Finding God

There is a oft repeated line in our house after 1 of the kids says something funny, "I bet that will be a sermon illustration." While it is somewhat a joke I think there is is more to it than just filing away an illustration. As a book I was reading said, it is seeing God in everything...the big, small, mundane & exciting. I believe if we keep our eyes open we will find God in the most unlikeliest places.

Historically, Jewish writers in the Bible were great about expressing this...let me give a present day example...late this afternoon I went out to the car & I couldn't get the doors to unlock electrically because the battery had died. I noticed a neighbor was in the yard so I asked if he had jumper cables, he didn't but because my car is straight gear he offered to push me off. Long story, my battery was so dead it wouldn't crank up by popping the clutch. I did find jumper cables but right after my neighbor left the car died. Another individual I knew showed up to jump me off again & made sure it didn't cut off before he left.

Let me re-write this story the way it might would read in the Bible...My battery died so God placed it in the heart of my neighbor to push the car. After the car cut off again God placed a friend in my location to jump my car off again.

Here is what it comes down to...we have a choice of how we view life's situations. We can get mad & wonder why bad things happen or we can look for the presence of God...let me challenge you to prime the pump through prayer. It will create that category to see God. You may be surprised where you might find Him.
