God is awesome! I know that has the tendency to be a catch phrase we use. But every now and then it is the only thing that can be said. Personally His awesomeness is being felt in my life as I finally surrendered to managing things well in my life. God is still working on a few areas but He has given me the strength to manage 1 area of my life that brought the most fear. In the process he has proved himself faithful more than once.
Corporately his awesomeness is being felt in the life of the church. Over the last few years we have been struggling to meet budget each and every week...Praise God because the last quarter was entirely in the black. Just looking at things it doesn't make sense...common sense would say we should be bringing in less but God's math makes less more. The next phase is how do we use His blessings for His glory? How do we use it to represent God as He truly is to a world that is in desperate need...as a church it starts by living up to our name. Providence...this is a very powerful word...it is used to describe God's activity upon this earth...the church is a means of God being active upon this earth...we must take a look at who we are and figure out how to continue doing the things we do well and do better with things we need to improve on...
Over the summer I spent Sunday Nights preaching through an acronym...
P = Prayer
R = Recovery
O = Offering (Acts of Service Romans 12:1-2)
V = Visitation
I = Invite
D = Disciple
E = Evangelize
N = Nurture
C = Compassion
E = Expression (in Worship)
These are ways we can represent who God is in practical ways...No Accident only Providence...
Psalm 139:16
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
